Funeral services for Mike Phillips, 65, of Nacogdoches will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. W.E. Shiflet officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Mr. Phillips passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on January 5, 1956, in Nacogdoches, Texas to Buddy and Patsy Phillips.
Mike was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas. In his early years he played football for Nacogdoches High School and enjoyed every minute on the field. He was a proud graduate of NHS in 1974. Not long after graduation, he began his career working for NIBCO where he remained until his retirement in 2013 after 39 dedicated years. Mike was an avid outdoorsman with his favorite activities being hunting and fishing. He constantly longed to spend more time in the woods or on the lake. He claimed many trophy animals, many of which he proudly displayed all throughout the house. One of his proudest accomplishments and dedicated duties in his life was being named president of the Lavaca Creek Hunting Club.
Everyone that knew Mike, knew him as a friend. Although he may have appeared grumpy, he was never afraid of a good conversation and always treated people he met with respect. The most important people in Mike's life were his family. As his sons grew older and became involved in baseball and basketball, he taught them how to succeed, not only in sports but also in life. Even through hardships, he focused on what was most important. He loved to spend the time he had with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by wife, Teresa Phillips; sister, Elesia Langston & husband, Jimmie; sons, Chase & Jcie, Kyle & Sage; stepsons, Chris & wife JoAna Lamon; stepdaughters, Tammy Lamon & Jeremy, Brandi Spradlin & husband Charles; grandsons, Stephen Pawlak, Tyler Lamon, Keagan Spradlin, Tony Williams, Colby Lamon, Jacob Lamon, Kason Little and Matheson Phillips; granddaughters, Kasey Pawlak, Destini Tobias and Kylie Little; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Bentley, Brylee and Noah; nephews, Trey & Tailor Langston and Luke Langston; Mike is also survived by numerous other family members who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy & Patsy Phillips.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Lamon, Stephen Pawlak, Jacob Lamon, Colby Lamon, Tony Williams, Keagan Spradlin and Kason Little. Honorary pallbearers are Rickey Kirkland, and Matheson Phillips.
